"And into Asylum - like a great, black engine roaring to eternity, ravaging the already benighted landscape with its savage, malevolent presence.
And within, the legions of the truly damned. Insanity sheer and stark and once in human form, now gutted and torn by eons of glutted indulgence.
Their bloodlust flecking the oily walls, living in the shirks of victims ensnared, hanged, drawn and quartered by the serpent's squalid writhings.
This is the place I have not wanted to dream of, and the dream is now the place I partly live through."
[Quote from a cutscene from the videogame Shadow Man, by Acclaim Entertainment]
Ok so this is a piece I did last year, took me a while to finally upload it here.
This is my fan version of the infamous Asylum, the place where all the madmen and assassins go when they die. If you ever played Shadow Man in the late 90s you'll probably know what this place's about. Personally I wouldn't wish even my worst enemy to end in there.
I imagined a number of railways coming in and out of this construction, since the people of the Asylum (I mean the pigmen and the surgeons) probably need to capture deadsiders all around Deadside to gain enough raw material for their unglorious purposes.
This work was originally done for a fan remake of Shadow Man, now it's also the cover artwork for Tim Haywood's music serie Asylum: Dark Chambers. Since Tim was the sound designer of the original game, you should definitely check his soundcloud for more creepy music from and inspired by the game, and more great music [link]
Also here you'll find a vibrant fan comunity of the game, including also people who worked at the original Shadow Man. Any question you've always wanted to ask, this is the place [link]
